Nemesis 5, our Hero 4.

My nemesis beat me in Black and White last night. Coughed up the Knights early, then turned the table when we took both Bishops - oh what a pleasure to see those two holy men watching from the sideline. But we let him strike first, and that was our downfall. We were running from check to check until it was over, all while our blessed Queen and noble Castle were on the other side of the board, a move or two from a tag-team dance of destruction. Frustrating. Beaten by Pawn play. All tactics and no strategy dammit! We are planning our revenge, and you my nemesis, will pay!

This aggression will not stand! I hope the following advise will be useful for your revenge:
- Control the center 4 squares (preferably occupy two of them with pawns) and you control the game's momentum
- During the opening move each piece only once -- get as many pieces onto the board as fast as possible
- Use your pawns well, keeping them connected and supporting power pieces -- preferably align them in a "V" facing your foe
- It sounds like he uses his pawns well; break up his formation by forcing exchanges and eliminate his tactical superiority in this area
- Castle early in the game

If it is going to throw of your opponent, also try the following openings:
- White: "Desert Rat offence" (King's knight to F3)
- Black: Sicillian Defence (offer a gambit; a pawn for better position in the center)

Go and face thy foe; return either with thy shield or on it!
