Happy Anniversary

Two years ago today
we made a sacred promise to each other and the world.
Since that day
you have brought me more joy, love, and laughter
than I could ever have expected.

You are a source of light and warmth in my life
that I have come to thrive on.
When you are absent
my life is a mere shadow of what it could be.

It is for these reasons that I thank the Universe
for bringing us together
and I am sure it did just that
as I sat in the desert under a summer night sky
describing you
as I wished upon shooting stars.
